At Rain Designs, we are passionate about crafting jewelry that will stand the test of time. We want you to cherish your pieces for years to come, and proper care is essential in maintaining their beauty. Here are a few tips to help you keep your jewelry looking as stunning as the day you first laid eyes on it.
Tips for Silver and Gold Plated Pieces
- If we stamped "925" or "S925" on the products, they are made of real 925 sterling silver.Â
- 18K gold plated is about the surface color finish of the jewelry. For a different color and look, we add the 18K gold layer to the surface of the 925 sterling silver.
- The fantastic thing about sterling silver is you can avoid tarnish by wearing it more often. The oils in your skin will help to keep the silver clean and shiny.
- Chemicals from lotions, cosmetics, hair spray and hair products, and     perfumes will accelerate tarnishing. Always remove your silver jewelry when doing household, contact with household chemicals, perspiration, rubber, chlorinated water will cause corrosion and tarnish.
- Moisture and sunlight both promote silver tarnish, the best place for your silver is out of direct sunlight and away from too much humidity. So do take off your silver jewelry before you go swimming and sun tanning.
- Taking off your jewelry before bedtime can prevent it from getting tangled or damaged while you sleep. This also gives your skin a chance to breathe without any metal or gemstone contact.
- Direct sunlight can cause fading or discoloration of certain gemstones or metals. It's advisable to store your jewelry in a cool, dark place when not in use.
- Metals have the tendency to tarnish over time due to exposure to oxygen and natural body oils. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help slow down this process.
- To minimize tarnishing, store your jewelry in a sealed bag or box in a dry, dark, and cool environment. This prevents unnecessary exposure to air and moisture that can accelerate tarnishing.
- Always handle your jewelry with care. Avoid dropping or knocking it against hard surfaces as this can cause damage or breakage. Remember that proper care and maintenance of your jewelry can help prolong its beauty and lifespan.
 Daily Pearl Care Tips
- Put your pearls on last:Â Â After applying all cosmetics, lotions, hairspray, and perfume, it's best to put your pearls on last to prevent any contact with chemicals that may affect their luster. This helps protect the pearls from exposure to substances that can potentially damage their surface.
- Remove before touch-ups:  Before doing any "touch ups" or reapplying cosmetics or perfume, it’s advisable to remove your pearls. This prevents any accidental contact with substances that may harm the pearls' surface.
- Take off first after wear: When you’re done wearing your pearls, make sure to take them off first. Wipe them down with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove any chemical residues and perspiration they may have absorbed. This gentle cleaning helps maintain their natural radiance.
- Regular wear for moisture:Â Pearls need moisture to maintain their luster and structural integrity. Wearing them regularly allows them to absorb some of the oils from your skin, providing them with the necessary moisture for longevity.
- Proper storage:Â Store your pearls in a soft cloth or velvet pouch, keeping them separate from other metal jewelry components. This safeguards them from potential scratches caused by contact with sharp metals in your jewelry box. Storing them properly ensures their beauty and quality are preserved for years to come.
